She was trying to make light of the situation, but it was so clearly etched on her face that she was hurting, and in shock.
The Scourge: There's a first time for everything.
Much to his credit, he winked at her. It was a humorous looking gesture behind above those bandages.

Alexis: Bitch, please.
Not thinking she backhand slaps his shoulder, not too hard but enough to have him wince a fraction. Medicated or not, those multiple fractures were gonna hurt.
Alexis: Oh shit! Sorry! My brain is 100% NOT engaged at the moment

He did wince, and his eyes fluttered for a moment. That sledge had done a number on him.
The Scourge: It's alright, it isn't going to kill me.
There was a pause and then he broke the silence again. He struggled briefly to adjust and her eyes met his again. She didn't look away immediately and he saw the haunted look that was there.
The Scourge: Alexis... You can talk to me, if you need to. I'm the definition of a captive audience.

That's when she sighed and dropped herself down onto the wooden arm of the chair at his bedside.
Alexis: I don't need to talk. I'm still processing.. You though... You don't remember anything? No idea who it was driving?

He didn't reply for a while, then he finally he spoke.
The Scourge: I don't know. I... I remember being in the parking garage, and a phone rang. It wasn't my phone... but I had it. I... Damn, I can't remember who it was.

Alexis: And it's not like it a small list of who would want to..
She trialed off, shrugging at her own honesty.
Alexis: I'd say it might come back to you; but.. I still don't remember it being Howell jumping me all those months back. Amnesia is a bitch.

The Scourge: Yeah... it's not. At all.
He was silent for a few moments.
The Scourge: The truth will find it's way out, however. Secrets don't survive in this business, and I have my ways of learning them... and when I figure out who did it...
His voice trails off.

Alexis: All hell is going to break loose.
She finished his sentence for him.
Alexis: but from the way you're looking right now...we might be waiting some time for that sorta' showdown.

He shrugged, well... he didn't actually shrug. He sort of moved, then groaned.
The Scourge: Perhaps. I've yet to actually see a doctor. That's more time to plan however.
He slowly and with great effort turned to look at her.
The Scourge: What about you? What's your plan?

Alexis: No plan. Not had time to devise one.. I feel like I've just been side-slammed..nuked, actually. There's been no time to think or even process anything.. We all live fucked up lives, huh? It's begun feeling 'normal'..

He grunted, he knew what she meant. It took a moment but their eyes met as she looked up at him.
The Scourge: it's the job, and it's who we are. The industry is chaos, and while a part of most of us wants to flee from it, turn our back on it forever... Just so we can achieve normal, we never will. Nietzsche was right when he said that one must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. If we aren't sowing chaos, we are attracting it. It feel like our normal, because it's our drug. We hate it... But the addiction is so deep, that we will never truly break it.

Alexis: .. Jesus FUCK - how hard did you get hit?!? The New Messiah.
She exclaimed after a pause - still perched there on the arm of the chair. But she laughed; light hearted in her teasing.
Alexis: You're sounding almost biblical..

He blinked those deep eyes, which looked funny surrounded by all the bandages.
The Scourge: Am I wrong? Like a moth to the flame, we're always pulled back in, and for people like us... it's the chaos of it all.
He adjusted slightly in his bed, gritting his teeth as he did.
The Scourge: Messiah eh? Herald of a new day, that sort of thing? Sounds a bit deep. (he winked at her) even for me.

A moth to a flame she certainly was. And the need for chaos; he'd probably hit the hammer right on the nail there too. Those sentiments she kept to herself. She replied with a wink of her own..
Alexis: You're not wrong.
Not wanting to dwell too long on those eyes, she got to her feet. Bandaged; lacerated; whatever - the Beast still had the magnetism.
Alexis: I should go; huh? Especially if the Doctors have't even gotten to you yet.

He grunted, letting his eyes wander the room for a moment.
The Scourge: Your call, I don't hate the company.
He paused for a moment, his eyes closing as a wave of pain passed through him.
The Scourge: However, you could stay. If you wanted to.
